‘Make Development Council Operational,’ Urges AAGYP

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 10: The All Assam Goria Yuva Parishad (AAGYP) on Monday demanded State’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to make operational of the Goria Development Council at the earliest.

Talking to the reporters here at Guwahati Press Club, Asomiya Muslim Kalyan Parishad president Rahmasa Ali and AAGYP president Abdul Hamid said that the indigenous Gorias of the state has been crippled with crisis. The duo said, “At a time when 30 development councils established for various indigenous communities are properly functioning, the almost tumbledown state of the Goria Development Council is quite unfortunate and is injustice to the Goria communities.” Stressing that Goria and Moria are not a single community, the duo further said, “Development of Moria is not synonymous to the development of the Gorias.”

Notably, the AAGYP is going to organize a symposium on the existence of the Gorias at Gauri Sadan, Guwahati on September 22.
