GUWAHATI: Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) is organizing SARAS Fair 2018 from December 15 at Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium, Khanapara, Guwahati. As a prelude to the SARAS Fair, ASRLM organized a Run- RUN FOR SKILLING AND LIVELIHOODS from the Venue on December 14 at 7 AM. The RUN was flagged off by Eminent Cine Artist, Chetana Das and Bikram Rajkhowa in the presence of State Mission Director, ASRLM, Nandita Hazarika. Jeevika Sakhis and Staff of ASRLM, DDU-GKY Trainees, Sports enthusiasts, local residents of Khanapara joined the 3 KMs run from Ganesh Mandir Indoor Stadium via Janayanagar Road, Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara and APSC Building. More than 100 people participated in the Run which ended in the Venue itself.
On December 15, the fair will be formally inaugurated by Minister Panchayat and Rural Development, Government of Assam, Naba Kumar Doley at 3 PM. SARAS FAIR is organized with an aim to provide a platform to the Self-Help Groups to showcase their skills & products. The Fair will display and sell a wide range of products crafted by the rural Self-Help Groups from all over the country. Each day of the 12-days programmed schedule will also include competitions, panel discussion and colorful cultural events.
