Motorised Boat Services Suspended

GUWAHATI, Sept, 6: After the spine-chilling boat tragedy on the Brahmaputra in Guwahati on Wednesday, State’s transport department has suspended the services of local motorised boats (bhutbhutis).

Meanwhile, in order to make the travel between Guwahati-North Guwahati hassle free, the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has increased the number of buses on the Guwahati-North Guwahati route. The ASTC will now be running ten buses from Rajaduwar of North Guwahati to Kachari in Guwahati. Earlier, only two buses plied on the route as people mostly preferred to travel by motor boats and ferries between North Guwahati and Guwahati.
