Murder and suicide case in Satgaon, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A murder and suicide case has been reported from the Satgaon area here on Saturday. According to Police, the incident came to light after the house owner became suspicious as the front door of his tenant, Bhabesh Sarma, was open but did not notice anyone within the premises. The house owner -- Ratul Bordoloi -- proceeded inside the house and found Sarma hanging from the ceiling fan in the front room. He immediately informed Satgaon Police. The police team also found the body of Sarma's six-year-old son, and wife -- Himadri Sarma-- in an unconscious state with signs of knife cuts on her neck. The police sent the severely injured Himadri Sarma to the GMCH, and both the bodies for post-mortem in the hospital.
Bhabesh Sarma owned a homoeopathic pharmacy in the Satgaon area. He hails from Nalbari. Police suspect poverty to be the cause of these incidents.
