GUWAHATI: The Assam Pradeshik Yogi Sanmilani (APYS) has alleged that the 44 lakh Nath Yogi people in the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys are being neglected by the government in every field.

Addressing the media here on Friday, APYS president Dr. Dinesh Kakati Nath stressed, "Our community has a great contribution in the voting system of Assam but unfortunately, the political parties do not give tickets to candidates from our community. Post independence to till date, only seven candidates has been fielded in the Assam Assembly election."

Further, the APYS appealed to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Asom Jatiya Parishad, Congress, and Raijor Dal to give party tickets to the candidates from their community. "If the political parties don't give party tickets to candidates from our community then we will press the NOTA (None of the Above) option present in the EVM machine during the polls," threatened Nath.
