National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Celebrates Durga Puja with Fervour and Zeal

GUWAHATI: Continuing the legacy of celebrating Durga Puja, the 1st Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) organized a function at Patgaon Campus, Azara. The eye-catching idols of Goddess Durga, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Goddess Laxmi and Saraswati are placed in Puja arena.

A panoramic, picturesque and beautiful theme of Paharo Vali Maa (Goddess of Hills) has been created around the idols of the deities. The theme was depicted and illustrated by mountain series clad in snow and forests with the water rivulets coming down the feet of Goddess Durga. The unique and gorgeous pandal of the deity became the centre of attraction for the devotees.

“We pray the omnipresent and omnipotent Maa Durga to bless us to fight disasters and save precious human lives. We remain busy in carrying out rescue operations and conducting disaster management training across the northeast. Hence, a celebration of such programs by involving all NDRF personnel with their respective families and children ease reverberate their mental fatigue or exhaustion and unites them with the spiritual divine power to refresh and prepare them to fight disaster with vigour and enthusiasm,” said SK Sastri, Commandant, 1st Battalion, NDRF. The Pooja arena has been developed by the rescuers of 1st Battalion, NDRF with their acumen and skills. To bring the whole program a grand success, NDRF families and children presented a cultural program.

The celebration started on October 15 will be culminated on October 19 with the laying off idols of all Goddess. The Cultural programs were shown by Jazzband of FTR HQ, BSF Guwahati and children of Patgaon Campus, a communiqué said.
