GUWAHATI: The aggrieved land owners committee has requested the State government to compensate all the affected land owners who have lost their lands during the construction of National Highway nos 36 and 39 in the stretch of land from 118.050 kms to 132.375 kms. The committee alleged corruption of a large sum of money in the process of acquisition of land for the construction of the stretch in the aforementioned National Highways. Addressing the mediapersons, the committee stated that they have taken the matter to the court and filed a PIL (47/2020). The PIL was proceeded in the court on 10/9/2020 through video conferencing. During the court proceedings, after looking at the matter of both the respondent and the petitioner the court have further directed the Secretary to the Department of Hill Areas, Government of Assam to take instructions and record from various authorities and file personal affidavit, which also required to be para-wise.
