National-level moot court competition held at Amingaon, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The National Law University and Judicial Academy Assam successfully organized the Second Edition of Vox Anatolis National Level Moot Court Competition from March 6 to 8, 2020 at its campus at Amingaon here.

Mooting is an exercise wherein students of law schools indulge in the simulation of court, arbitration proceedings.

Being the only National Law University in the region, NLU Assam under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr JS Patil has attempted to create awareness about the legalities of various issues unique to the region through Vox Anatolis Moot Court competition. This year’s moot proposition was based on the legalities of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the rights of foreigners in detention camps. Altogether 21 teams from premier law schools from all over the country participated in the competition where they advanced arguments on the legalities of the process. The competition was inaugurated by Senior Advocate of the Gauhati High Court, Nilayananda Dutta. The prelims and other rounds were adjudged by Advocates of the Gauhati High Court. The finalists were West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and OP Jindal Global Law School, Haryana.
