New Assam Legislative Assembly hall to depict State's heritage

GUWAHATI: The art and design of the new Assam Legislative Assembly Hall is going to depict the rich heritage of the State. The art and design work, a brainchild of State Legislative Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami, has been entrusted to the State PWD (Public Works Department) that has already called tenders. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.09 crore approximately.

Assam has a rich heritage, but the present Legislative Assembly Hall doesn't depict that. According to sources, the art and design of the new Assembly Hall will have, among other heritage of the State, something on the legacy left behind by Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha and Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. Both of these illustrious personalities were members of this august House.
