GUWAHATI: State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) president Ranjeet Kumar Dass has claimed that no other party in the State other than the BJP can implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. His statement came while addressing a programme on Monday where a number of prominent artistes across the State formally joined the BJP.

Artistes like music director, lyricist Biman Baruah, Jayanta Kumar Sharma, vocalist Kallol Barthakur, actor, director Banjit Sharma, Kaushik Sarma, music arrangers Bhavjyoti Das, music teacher, musician Bhavjyoti Das, music teacher Businessman Chiranjit Barpujari and Pranab Kumar Mishra.

Dass welcomed them to the party with gamocha and party garlands, stated a release.

Commenting on Article 6 of the Assam Accord in front of the mediapersons, the president thanked the Central government for advising the State government through experts on the issue of this Clause.

He said that the BJP government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonwal had taken the Assam Accord paper to Parliament out of goodwill. Dass added that no other party in the State other than the BJP can implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

He said that the BJP is considered as the largest political party in the world with 18 crore registered members. The BJP, which is now a national entity with more than 42 lakh members, has set a target of creating 65 lakh workers in coming days. He said that there is an intimate connection with the culture of Assam and that is why the BJP has always accorded special dignity to all artistes. He called upon all the newcomers to pay respect to the veterans and continue to contribute to the field of art culture in the State.

"The latest Agriculture Bill passed in the Rajya Sabha has been witnessed as a landmark step by the Modi-led Union Government and president has lauded the bill," Dass stressed.

He said that the bill would free the farmers from the clutches of middlemen and would allow them to sell their produce in any State without any hindrance from any government or non-government organization.
