Northeast Frontier Railway to introduce another special train

GUWAHATI: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) will introduce another passenger special train between Kamakhya and Murkongselek from October 1, 2020. Introduction of this special train will enable passengers from a vast part of Assam to avail the facility of train travel to various parts of the country.

The 05613 Kamakhya-Murkongselek passenger special will leave from Kamakhya at 08:30 pm daily via Rangiya, Rangapara North, Harmuti, North Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Silapather to reach Murkongselek at 07:45 am the next day. During the return journey, the 05614 Murkongselek-Kamakhya passenger special train will leave Murkongselek at 07:15 pm every day from October 1, 2020 to reach Kamakhya at 07:05 am the next day. The train will have AC 2 tier, AC 3 tier, sleeper class and general second-class facilities. The train will have stoppages at 24 stations during its journey in between Kamakhya and Murkongselek. There will be no unreserved coaches.

Passengers must download the 'Aarogya Setu App', and strictly observe social distancing both at the station and on trains. Wearing of face covers at the entry and during travel is a must. Only asymptomatic passengers with confirmed tickets will be allowed to enter the Railway station/board the train, stated a release.

All regular passenger train services including the Premium trains, Mail/Express trains, Passenger trains services, narrow-gauge train services were suspended in the wake of COVID-19 since the last week of March.

In the NFR area, presently 11 pairs of special trains are presently in operation. These are: The 02423 / 02324 Dibrugarh-New Delhi-Dibrugarh AC spl; 02501 / 02502 Agartala-New Delhi-Agartala AC spl; 02377 / 02378 Sealdah - Alipurduar - Sealdah spl express; 02407 / 02408 Amritsar-New Jalpaiguri-Amritsar spl express; 05484 / 05483 Delhi-Alipurduar-Delhi spl express; 05955 / 05966 Delhi-Dibrugarh-Delhi spl mail; 05645 / 05646 Guwahati-LTT-Guwahati spl express; 02509 / 02510 Guwahati-Bangaluru Cantt-Guwahati spl express; 05933 / 05934 Dibrugarh-Amritsar-Dibrugarh spl express; 05909/ 05910 Dibrugarh-Lalgarh-Dibrugarh spl express; and the 05625 / 05626 Agartala-Deoghar-Agartala spl express, the release added.
