Noted Guwahati Businessman Ajay Poddar Arrested for Smuggling of Segun Logs

Guwahati: Noted businessman of Guwahati Ajay Poddar was arrested by Noonmati police on Sunday for allegedly smuggling and transporting segun logs in vehicles meant for carrying explosives. On July 28, during the course of its investigation, Noonmati police seized the vehicles from Poddar’s office, Atlas Copco, in the Noonmati area. The vehicles were kept hidden in the office premises. On this count, a case (case no 438/18) has been registered in Noonmati PS u/s 379/420 IPC and Assam Forest Conservation Act. After being arrested, the accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
