GUWAHATI: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel conducted a drive in Guwahati Railway Station on Monday. During the drive, they noticed that a person was moving amongst the passengers in a suspicious manner on platform number 4/5 of the station.

The RPF personnel followed the person. On seeing the team, the person tried to flee away. However, he was apprehended by the RPF team and on interrogation, he disclosed his name as Moinul Haque (30). He is the son of Sahanur Islam and resident of Jaleswer Bazar under Lakhipur PS in Goalpara district. At present, he lives in Islampur under Paltan Bazar PS in the city.

Moinul failed to give any satisfactory reply for entering into the restricted Railway premises. When he was checked, a VIVO Android mobile phone was recovered from his possession, for which he again failed to give any satisfactory reply. On further interrogation, he confessed that he had stolen the mobile phone from a passenger of platform number 4/5. Moinal was taken to Guwahati Railway police station for necessary action. A case vide No. 105/2021 U/S 380 IPC has been registered against him.
