Panchayat polls : Parties announce candidatures for 1st phase

GUWAHATI: Taking cognizance of the first phase of the ensuing Panchayat polls, major political parties have declared their respective lists of candidatures for the Zila Parishad Constituencies (ZPCs) on Tuesday.

Out of 251 ZPCs, the State BJP has declared the list of candidatures for 196 ZPCs on Tuesday while the Congress has announced candidatures for all the constituencies. Other hand, the regional party AGP has also declared their candidatures for certain ZPCs.

Notably, the last date for filling nominations for the Zila Parishad presidents has been scheduled on November 15. Hence, the contending candidates will flock the respective centres on Wednesday.
