Preliminary meet in New Delhi on BJP-AGP alliance

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The preliminary meeting the BJP and AGP leadership to forge an alliance to fight the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in Assam was held in New Delhi on Monday. Though the meeting between the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and AGP president and working president Atul Bora and Keshab Mahanta respectively remained inconclusive, it gave broad hints about the possibility of reaching an understanding of seat sharing in the Parliamentary elections. The BJP has offered Barpeta and Kaliabor constituencies to the AGP to field its candidates. But the AGP has sought two more seats.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the election manifesto committee of AGP held on Tuesday decided to include unemployment, NRC update, Assam Accord, flood and other major issues in the manifesto for the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
