GUWAHATI: Attendance of students in schools, colleges and private training and coaching institutes in the city is slowly but steadily increasing. The educational institutes were formally reopened on November 2 after a gap of seven months.

"Many students are eager to come to schools on a regular basis to attend physical classes by following all COVID-safety protocols. But their parents and guardians are little reluctant initially. With the number of COVID-19 positive cases declining in the State the flow of students is increasing," a teacher at Ulubari Higher Secondary School said. He said classes are being held at his school by following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for COVID safety and prevention.

Girl students in a good number have also started coming out to attend classes in schools and colleges. The TC Government HS & MP School, the oldest girls' school and Pan Bazar Girls' High School in the city have witnessed good turnout of students in the last week.

As per the SOPs staggered timetable is being followed for all the classes from VI to XII.

In Upper Primary, Secondary and Sr. Secondary schools, for students of class VI, VIII, X and XII, classes are being conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In schools, for students of class VII, IX and XI, classes are being conducted on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
