Security beefed up for Republic Day celebration in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Though there's no specific security threat in the run-up to the Republic Day celebration in Guwahati, maximum alert has been sounded in Guwahati, said Guwahati Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta. A three-layer security bandobast has been put in place at the Veterinary College playground at Khanapara where the Republic Day will be celebrated centrally, Gupta said. According to him, all entry and exit points of Guwahati are being checked, besides area domination and patrolling.
