Six people arrested for ramming car into CM's convoy in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: As many as 6 people were arrested on Thursday evening for ramming into the Chief Minister's convoy near the ABC point.

According to reports, the car (AS01BG1982) broke the traffic signal and took a wrong lane and rammed into a vehicle of the CM's convoy. The accused later tried to flee the spot. Out of the 6 people, five including the driver were found to be in intoxicated state. The accused include two women who were taken to the Panbazar Women's Jail. In this regard, the police have registered a case (198/2020) u/s 120B/109/188/279/353/307/34.

Meanwhile, the court has granted bail to 4 of the 6 accused. Currently, the driver Debashas Goswami and Gitartha Das, an owner of a city based bar named Taika Bar are in judicial custody. A department source said that the police have temporarily suspended the license of the Taika Bar and have initiative a departmental inquiry.
