Skill India Initiative: Course on Geriatric Care Launched

GUWAHATI, Sept 5: In continuation to its efforts towards ‘Skill India’ initiatives, Guwahati Refinery launched a certificate course on geriatric care at the National Skill Development Centre (NSDC), Chaygaon on September 4. Under its CSR initiatives, Guwahati Refinery has provided newly-incorporated infrastructural facilities at the centre as well as has sponsored a batch of 100 school drop-out youths for the six-month long course.

Minister of Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Chandra Mohan Patowary, inaugurated the course at NSDC Chaygaon in presence of Guwahati Refinery Executive Director Jogen Barpujari.

In his inaugural address, Patowary appreciated the efforts taken up by Indian Oil Guwahati Refinery towards skilling the unemployed youth of Assam and making them skilled for employment. He said that the course will definitely create a good pool of skilled youths who will be able to explore the potential job opportunities in the geriatric care sector.

During the occasion, Guwahati Refinery Executive Director Jogen Barpujari congratulated the youths who were selected for the course. In his speech, Barpujari shared that Guwahati Refinery has been working towards meeting the vision of Prime Minister to transform India as the ‘Skill Capital of the World’. He further gave an account of the various skill development courses taken up by Guwahati Refinery in the recent years for the unemployed educated youths of Assam. Shiladitya Sarkar, Regional Engagement Officer, NSDC also enlightened the students and audience on the growing scope as well as the potential job opportunities in the field.

Also others attend the function were Anjana Baruah Sarmah, General Manager-HR, Guwahati Refinery besides other senior officials of the Refinery and NSDC.
