State fire service officer Jugal Chandra Panyang dies of COVID-19

GUWAHATI: Silpapathar Fire and Emergency Services station officer Jugal Chandra Panyang became the first victim of COVID-19 in fire service. He died of COVID-19 at AMCH (Assam Medical College and Hospital), Dibrugarh on Saturday.

Panyang, who had received President's medal for meritorious sSilpapathar Fire and Emergency Services station officer Jugal Chandra Panyang became the first victim of COVID-19 in fire service. He died of COVID-19 at AMCH (Assam Medical College and Hospital), Drvice in 2019, was admitted to AMCH on Friday. He hailed from Ayangia Boragaon in Lakhimpur district.

As of now, 202 personnel of the State Fire and Emergency Services tested COVID-19 positive, including 40 SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) personnel. While 179 have been discharged, 22 are still active patients. Of the discharged, 152 personnel have joined their duty.
