State Food Safety Commission Sent Milk Samples to laboratory

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Sleuths of the State Food Safety Commission collected milk samples suspected to be without fats at the required quantity from various locations in the city on Tuesday. The sleuths collected two milk samples from Fancy Bazar area and one each from Kumarpara, Pachali and Shantipur and sent them fort testing to the laboratory. The investigation was performed after a complaint by Jatiya Sena who alleged that consumers in Assam are under the threat of adulterated milk and milk products from these areas. A Food Safety officer said, “Adulteration of milk reduces the quality of milk and can even make it hazardous. The required quantity of fats to be present in milk is 3.2 per cent. The samples have been sent to the lab and if the fats quantity is found less than the required per cent and if the presence of chemicals is detected, we will take appropriate action.”
