GUWAHATI: The State government has prepared a Rs 47.50-crore project with a telling art that can narrate the historic Assam agitation to the posterity.

Barring martyrs' columns in various areas in the State, there is nothing centrally to depict the six-year-long agitation that can tell the coming generations the tale of the over 855 martyrs and the Agitation.

The Swahid Smarak Udyan (SSU) at Pachim Boragaon in the city is designed in such a way that it depicts the Agitation centrally from one spot. The foundation stone of the project was laid on December 10, 2019 by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The project is initiated by the Assam Accord Implementation department. However, it being a technical project, the PWD (Public Welfare Department) is going to do the construction work. It has already floated tenders.

A 100-bigha plot has been demarcated and well-fenced at Pachim Boragaon in the city for the project.
