State’s First Braille biography In Assam Sangrami Jubati Princee Gogoi Released

GUWAHATI: Sangrami Jubati Princee Gogoi is a first of its kind book, both in format and in content. It’s the first biography in Braille in Assam released here on Wednesday.

The first Assamese edition on this book, written by Pompi Hasong, a lecturer of KK Handique Sanskrit College, was published in January this year.

The content of this book is the fighting prowess, which Princee Gogoi is bestowed with, to beat all odds in life. She was born without any hands. The handless Princee could pass HS examination and now she is doing her Bachelor’s degree, besides working in a private hospital here. The Braille edition of the biography was released at a function at Guwahati Press Club by Dr. Hitesh Baruah on Wednesday. Also present at the function was Pratibandi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA) secretary Nripen Malakar, Guwahati Blind High School Principal Bhaben Barman and others. Releasing the book, Dr. Baruah said: “This biography in Braille is a remarkable contribution to literature. No one is disabled. Every person is able in his/her own pursuit. A glaring example of that is Princee.”
