GUWAHATI: The Students' Federation of India (SFI), Assam State Committee has expressed resentment over the arrest of two Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students for allegedly organizing an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest in Jaffrabad. Among the two students, one is from Assam.

According to reports, the Delhi Police arrested the two students – Devangana Kalita and Natasha Narwal -- on Saturday.

The SFI, Assam State Committee alleged that the government is taking chance of the pandemic as now people cannot gather and protest against the government. Hence, the government has started to arrest the people who have had raised their voice against the government, said the students' body.

Condemning the arrests, the SFI, Assam State Committee appealed to the public to express their resentment and to stage a protest by maintaining social distancing norms.
