GUWAHATI: Hearing a PIL (40/2020) a single bench of the Gauhati High Court comprising Chief Justice Ajai Lamba has asked the Assam government to produce all notifications, if any, pertaining to COVID-19 tests to the Court in the next hearing of a PIL on August 3, 2020.

Practising advocate of the Gauhati High Court Daiyan Hussain filed a PIL on June 23, 2020 regarding COVID-19 test. The petitioner said there has been no proper notification as to who among the COVID-19 patients should be tested who should be not. He also said that there is no clear-cut guideline on asymptomatic COVID-19 patients. The petitioner also challenged the rate of fees being charged by hospitals for conducting COVID-19 test, which he feels, should be reduced from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,200 per test.

Advocate Sumit Rajput from Delhi appeared for the petitioner through a visual court.
