Succour for wards of HPC (Hindustan Paper Corporation) Employees

NHM contractual workers to get medical reimbursement

GUWAHATI: To succour the students who are wards of employees of the two HPC (Hindustan Paper Corporation) mills located at Jagiroad and Cachar, the State government has announced a special one-time grant to help them continue their education courses.

According to the announcements, each ward of employees of the two HPC mills undergoing courses like medical, engineering, PhD etc in the State or outside it will get Rs 1 lakh. Each of such students undergoing post-graduation or equivalent courses will get Rs 75,000; Rs 50,000 each by each of students undergoing graduation, polytechnic or equivalent courses; Rs 25,000 by each of students undergoing HS courses; and Rs 10,000 by each of students undergoing from Class I-X. If an HPC employee has more than one child, each of the children will get the amount from the government. The State government will have to spend Rs 5 crore for this special grant.

While applications for such educational grants to HPC employees’ wards will be received from January 14-20, 2020, the deputy commissioners concerned will cross-examine the applications from January 21-30, 2020. The amounts will be deposited in the bank accounts of the beneficiary students by the first week of February, 2020.

The State Health department has also come out with a health scheme benefiting both contractual employees working under the National Health Mission (NHM) and contractual teachers. Under one of the schemes, contractual employees under the NHM will get medical reimbursement up to Rs 5 lakh for themselves, their parents, wives and children.

Contractual TET teachers and contractual and additional teachers of high schools will also be brought under this scheme soon.

Apart from these, the State government will bear four cent of interest of bank loans of Divyang employees purchasing vehicles with bank loans. State Finance and Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made all these announcements while briefing the media here on Thursday.
