GUWAHATI: A team of delegates from System Research Society (SRS) met the Governor of Assam, Professor Jagdish Mukhi at the Guwahati Raj Bhavan, in the morning, on Monday, to present the Governor with the Don’t You Waste Food Campaigns details which is going to host a seminar in Guwahati on Tuesday. The eight members’ delegation was led by Priya Dasgupta (Ammaji). SRS President Puneet Grover and Executive Vice Presidents TJ Venkateshwaran and Poonam Dewan were a part of an eight-member delegation that met the Governor.
On being briefed about the campaign he suggested that “the cause of the organization is appreciable. Consciousness on this front is a pious work which has been initiated”. He was of the view that children must not be made a part of such programmes. It was explained how children are the future of tomorrow and the campaign is to create awareness amongst everyone and children are an important section to be empowered for the future.
The Governor congratulated the team members of SRS for taking this challenging initiative. He shared some exemplary ideas on how the message can be sent across to large audiences. He suggested that SRS team must take up the concern of food wastage with the tent associations, banquet and catering industry and hotels at the national level to create a larger impact. On a parting note, he reiterated the need for the consistent and serious efforts of the team towards the cause of food waste reduction or else it would fade away, stated a press release.
