Teacher from Karimganj, Debabrata Bhattacharjee looted in the city

GUWAHATI: A teacher from Karimganj, Debabrata Bhattacharjee, came to the city on Saturday and was staying on at Hotel Mayur in Paltan Bazaar. On Monday, he went out to get some medicines and started searching for a pharmacy. A miscreant, on the pretext of guiding him the way, took him to an abandoned spot where he was joined by two others. The gang threatened and looted Rs. 8000 of cash from him. The victim immediately filed a case (1305 / 18 u/s 392 IPC) against the miscreants. One, Anand Barma, who hails from Tripura and was presently residing at Gandhi Mandap in Guwahati was caught. A cash of Rs. 2,900 was recovered from his possession, while he confessed that he was given his share of Rs. 1500 from the loot. The accused has been presented before court and has been sent to Judicial Custody.
