Teachers March with Black Badges on Teacher’s Day

GUWAHATI, Sept 5: At a time, when the whole country is celebrating the Teachers’ Day with pomp and gaiety, demanding provincialisation of their services, more than hundreds of teachers from 33 districts of the State wearing black badges as a mark of protest marched to the Raj Bhawan here on Wednesday. In protest against the non-regularization of 47,589 teachers in 7,771 venture schools, the Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikyo Mancha observed Sikshak Pratarana Divas (Teachers’ Betrayal Day) on Wednesday and has boycotted Teachers’ Day celebrations. The march to the Raj Bhawan was taken out from Latasil playground.

Meanwhile, All Assam Minority Students’ Association, All Assam Non-Provincialised High School and High Madrassa Teachers’ Association, All Assam Junior College Principals’ Forum and Gauhati University Teachers’ Association also extended their support to the movement.
