GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Prathamik TET- Uttirno Sikshak Samaj (SAPTUSS) appealed to the State BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) to fulfill their various types of assurances which they mentioned in their vision documents. The SAPTUSS alleged that the government assured to regularize the jobs of the contractual teachers, however till date no decision has been taken.

"On June 7, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the contractual teachers till the age of 60 will be provided job security and other facilities. In this regard, the Education Department had asked the teachers to sign a new agreement. However, after the agreement was published, all the teachers along with the SAPTUSS opposed it," said SAPTUSS president Trailokya Deka.

The president's statement came while addressing a press conference along with joint secretaries - Mirazul Rasid and Diparnav Ghosh. The body has submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Elementary Education Comissioner and Secretary, and the Sarba Siksha Mission director. They argued that the agreement is not acceptable and such announced should be made through an order. "Before 10 days, jobs of all the contractual teachers of Manipur were regularized. Thus, separate Acts cannot exist in two separate States," asserted Trailokya Deka.
