Ugratara theft: Idol thrown to Brahmaputra?

GUWAHATI: Even after a week of it being stolen, the main idol of Ugratara Devalaya has not been traced. The investigating police team has been facing a harrowing time with some of the drug-addict accused keeping changing their statements frequently. Some of the drug-addict accused told the police that they had thrown the idol into the Brahmaputra. This statement led the police to search the idol near the Saraighat Bridge on Thursday, without success. Meanwhile, the police searched RK Jewellery taking its owner Rakesh Kumar Shah and employee Firoz Khan along with them to recover ornaments adoring the idol. There too, the search operation drew blank.
