Uniformed men loot 1 kg gold at Guwahati Railway Station

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: Yet again, the role of a few police personnel has come under the scanner. On January 17, three uniformed men looted one kg gold from a passenger of Rajdhani Express at Guwahati Railway Station. This is not the first such incident in Assam. In February 2019, a few personnel of Dispur police station were embroiled in the looting of gold biscuits from a few persons. Be it late, it came to light that the three uniformed men played mischief. The passenger was Suresh Kumar from Faridabad. As per reports, three uniformed men found the gold while conducting a routine search. The GRP formed an SIT (Special Investigation Team) to this effect. The SIT that is investigating the case (24/2020 under section 384/341 IPC) has already identified the three personnel, and one of them, an ASI, is being grilled.
