Youth booked for defamatory post against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

GUWAHATI: A youth from Gogamukh in Dhemaji district was booked for posting an objectionable post against Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

According to sources, the complaint was filed by one Madhujaya Sarma along with two people at the Gorchuk Police Station.

Meanwhile, acting on the complaint, a youth identified as Nipom Chutia has been detained by the police on May 27 night.

After interrogation, a notice has been issued to the accused under the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and was later released, however, he was asked to present himself at the police station on June 16.

A case (353/21) under Section 294 (A)/506 IPC R/W Section 67 of the IT Act has been registered.
