‘2016-17 Budget is still a speech’

GUWAHATI, Jan 28: The AIUDF Legislature Party Leader Hafij Basir Ahmed Quashimi has said that the 2016-17 Budget continues to remain just a speech without being translated into reality. In a statement issued to the press today, Quashimi said that the failure on the part of the State Government is due to lack of work experience or lack of good will. "The BJP made a lot of promises before the Assembly election in the State. While presenting the 2016-17 Budget also the government made a lot of promises. It seems that the party and the government are out to woo the people of the State only with promises, without meeting them. This government has cancelled thousands of IAY houses earlier allotted for the poor. It has also evicted the poor from their homes and hearth. How will this government meet the around 90 per cent of unfulfilled promises and what fresh promises it will make in the 2017-18 Budget are matters to be keenly watched at."
