3 NFR staff awarded for averting accidents

GUWAHATI, April 29: NF Railway GM HK Jaggi awarded a goods train driver and two trackmen with Rs 5,000 each today for showing alertness and devotion to duty. Loco pilot (goods) Md. Azim, while piloting Up New Guwahati food grain on March 12, 2016 noticed a problem in the axle of a loaded wagon. He immediately controlled the train at Dumdangi station under Katihar division by informing the station master. Timely action and alertness shown by the loco pilot prevented a major accident from occurring, a press release said.

Arjun Kamti and Bablu Kumar, both trackmen while on duty around 5 am on March 15, 2016 detected a hot axle in the wagon of a goods train bound for New Guwahati between Kuretha and Pranpur road station of Katihar division. They immediately informed the Station Master of Pranpur road station by using persol mobile phones and the train was controlled. Timely action, alertness and devotion to duty shown by both the trackmen prevented a major accident from occurring.
