34,000 E-rickshaws in each gaon panchayat for males & females

GUWAHATI, Oct 24: Purbayan is going to provide 34,000 E-rickshaws in every gaon panchayat in the State for the rehabilitation both males and females.

Through Northeast Electronic Vehicle Forum, Purbayan has taken two schemes – Bandhab Rickshaw Scheme for males and Lakshmi Rickshaw Scheme for females. Under the scheme meant for males, Purbayan is going to provide 24,000 e-rickshaws in each gaon panchayat through bank loans. Under the scheme meant for females, the NGO is going to introduce 10,000 E-rickshaws in each GP through bank loans. The E-rickshaws meant for females to have CCTV cameras and GPS system fitted with them so as to ensure the drivers’ security. According to an office-bearer of the NGO, the E-rickshaws will be covered by insurance policies. They drivers only need driving license, road permit and vehicle registration.
