AGP-BJP hits back at Congress

GUWAHATI, March 31: Addressing a joint press conference of the AGP and the BJP in Guwahati on Thursday, AGP vice president Alaka Desai accused the Congress of making false promises. Hitting out at the Congress over accusation of non-payment of salaries, Desai said that it was only for a short stint of two months that the then AGP government (1996-2001) failed to give salary to the employees of the State government. “The accusation of the Congress is totally baseless, we failed to pay the salary only for two months and that too was because of global economic slowdown.” Meanwhile, State BJP spokesperson, Jayanta Malla Baruah said that if voted power, the BJP will  on implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission which is likely to be tabled in October-November next.  Slamming the Congress leaders for using derogatory remarks on Prime Minister rendra Modi and demeaning the Assamese people and the State, Baurah while replying to the recent remark made by Rahul Gandhi said, “Assam has an array of good leaders who are capable of delivering their best to the State on contrary to the Congress who depends upon leaders like Sanjay Singh, Manmohan Singh who have represented the State on various occasions but have no ties attached to the State.” It may be mentioned that Rahul Gandhi during an election rally said that if BJP comes to power,   the State will be ruled from gpur.
