APRSC announces 2nd list

GUWAHATI, Feb 16: The Assam Pradesh Rashtriya Secular Congress (APRSC) has announced its second list of 16 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly election in the State. The first list of 17 candidates of the party was announced on January 30 this year, and the party is going to me all other candidates by March 5. The party  is going to field candidates in all the 126 LACs in the Assembly election.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, the party’s tiol president Sikander Ali Laskar said: “All political parties speak of giving more chances to the new generation, but they seldom give chances to the youth. We, however, lay more stress on youths. We’re not going to tie up with any other parties, and our alliance is with the people. We’re responsible for the development of each and every community. If we make it to Dispur, we’ll make the Upper House a reality in the State.”

Criticizing the Congress he said: “Dr. Manmohan Singh became the Prime Minister from Assam two times, but failed to set up any industry in the State. The people of the State are fed up with the BJP, Congress and the AIUDF, and they want a change.”

The Assam State president of the party, Keveri Kalita said: “Women are subdued on all fronts. We’ve laid stress on women empowerment. We’ll offer 50 per cent of the seats, that is 63 seats, to women candidates in this election.”
