Artfed employees demand release of salaries, arrears

GUWAHATI, Sept 19:  The Artfed Employees' Union (AEU) has decided to launch a series of protest demanding immediate release of the arrears of the employees working at different branches of Artfed besides releasing their monthly salaries through bank account.

AEU general secretary Dhiren Kr th in a statement said that the employees of Artfed working at different branches of the State have not got their regular salaries since 2008.

"At a time when the employees and officers of Artfed working at the Head Office drawing their salaries regularly through bank account, the employees working at various branches have not got their salaries for a long time," th said.  

He said that the authorities concerned asked the employees working at Artfed branches to take their salaries from the money received after selling various Artfed products but due to idequate supply of products to the branches, many branches are going to be closed down.

"As there is no supply of products to the branching, it is not possible to take salary by selling goods," he said.

th said that even though Labour Commissioner on August 1, 2016 ordered Artfed authorities to release the salaries as well as arrears of the employees, the authorities have not paid any importance to this order.

He said that in protest against the indifferent attitude of the government towards their demands, the Artfed employees will launch massive wall posturing on September 20 and 21.

"We will also stage dhar at Artfed head office on September 23 and stage hunger strike on September 27," th said.
