GUWAHATI, July 5: At the call of the Bishishtha garik Samaj a silent procession was taken out in the city today in protest a against the recent ISIS attacks in Dhaka, Istanbul and Saudi Arabia. The All Asom Goriya Yuva-Chatra Parishad also took out a protest procession in the city against the recent ISIS attacks.
The citizens’ body held a meeting with veteran jourlist Haider Hussain in the chair at Liladhar Khetra in the city. Senior advocate HRA Choudhury detailed the objective of the meeting that appealed to Dispur and New Delhi to tackle insurgents with an iron hand. The meeting also appealed to the people of Assam to keep a strict vigil on all fundamentalists and insurgents in the State. The meeting also formed a central conveners’ committee to hold meetings at various places in the State to bring about awareness against insurgents.
All Asom Goriya Yuva-Chatra Parishad general secretary Moinul Haque said on the death of an Indian girl in ISIS attack in Dhaka in a statement today, “As Indians, we can’t tolerate any attacks on our citizens anywhere in the world. Such acts of insurgents are not only condemble, but are also heinous crimes. ISIS misused the word Islam, and it is an attempt to taint Islamic religion. Establishing peace in society is the main aim and objective of Islam. All Asom Goriya Yuva-Chatra Parishad is capable enough to throw ISIS out from the State the way Lachit Barphukan and Bagh Hazarika (Islam Siqqique) drove away the Mughals in the Saraighat War.”
Meanwhile, Assam Haj Committee Chairman Nekibur Zaman said: “The Assamese Muslims have all along been against insurgency. On the day of Eid, the Assamese Muslims should bow not to give shelter to any insurgents and tolerate them.”
