Assamese book on TE labour Act released

GUWAHATI, July 20: Bagicha Shram Aain aru Asom Bidhi & Prasuti Sahayya Aain (Puaatee Aain), a book of the Labour Plantation Act and Maternity Benefit Act of 1961 for Tea Garden Labourers with the Act of amendment in Assamese, was released by former minister Prithibi Majhi in the city today.

Written by Dandeswar Saikia, the book has been published by Balata Publications with the participation of the AATTSA. Assam Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu was the special guest at the function. Releasing the book, Majhi said: "all Acts meant for tea gardens labourers being written in English, tea estate labourers have no access to the books. They have all along been exploited. Since an Assamese version of the book is available now, it will help the 10 lakh tea estate labourers of the State."
