'Barxaranya' wins Golden Palms award

GUWAHATI, May 23:  ‘The Rain Forest’, an Assamese film, has won the Golden Palms award at the Mexico Intertiol Film Festival in the environment category. Directed by Diganta Mazumder and produced by Ikramul Majid, the film is based on the Dihing Patkai Rain Forest. Based on a story written by Jiten Sarma, the main theme of the film is to create awareness among the masses to save ture. The cast of the film includes eminent actor Arun th, Tapan Das whereas Tanthoi Devi of Manipur has played the lead female role. Renowned sound engineer Amrit Pritam has designed the sound, recording and mixing. Oscar winner Resul Pokuty has also helped in sound designing.
