BBCI-Kochi AIMS MoU signed

GUWAHATI, March 17: Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati and Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for clinical, academic and research collaboration today at a function held in the cancer institute.   The MoU was signed by Dr. A. C. Kataki on behalf of Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute and Dr. Debrayan Dutta, Head, Department of Radiation Oncology on behalf of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, Kerala.  The function was attended by Dr. R. Bhuyan, Director of Health Services, Assam as the chief guest.  Incidence of cancer in Assam, as per population-based cancer registry of ICMR, is fourth highest in the country.  Cancer of oesophagus, hypopharynx, gall bladder, prostate, ovary are very common in Assam whereas cancer of lung, thyroid and breast are more common in the State of Kerala.
