Bhogali melas in city

GUWAHATI, Jan 10: In the run-up to the Bhogali Bihu, Bhogali melas are underway in the city. The melas are aimed at making Assamese munchies (scks and other delicacies) available for urban people of the State. While Bor Axom is holding such a mela at Siddhith Sarma Bhwan near Dighalipukhuri, Chiro Seuj Kalakrishti Kendra is holding another mela at Lakhidhar Bora Kshetra since yesterday. Both the melas will conclude on January 13. Teel pitha, rikol pitha, chunga pitha, ladu, bora chawl, kumol chawl, tel pitha, beaten rice, curd, cream, etc., are available at both the melas. Chiro Seuj Kolakrishti is making the scks at the site where a husking paddle has put on work. Apart from self-help groups and individuals from various places in Guwahati, such groups from lbari, Sorbhog, Sarthebari, Barpeta etc., have put up their outlets.  The prices are ten pithas (teel or rikol) cost Rs 50, Rs 50 for 10 ladus, Rs 250 for a litre of buffalo curd, Rs 500 for a litre of cream, Rs 100 for a kg of rice flour, Rs 100 for a piece of chunga pitha etc.
