Bill to repeal Health Establishment Act laid

GUWAHATI, August 10: The Assam Government today introduced the Assam Repealing Bill, 2015, which is a Bill to repeal the Assam Health Establishment Act, 1993.

 The salient features of the Act are -- the legislation makes it obligatory for clinical establishments to provide treatment and stabilize anyone who come or is brought in an ‘emergency medical condition’; the legislation also sets up a tiol council which will classify, determine and develop minimum standards for clinical establishments; as per the text of the Act, it will apply to all clinical establishments belonging to any recognized system of medicines as well as single doctor establishments with or without beds. Each state, according to the Bill, will set up a multi-member State Council Establishment, while the registering authority will be a multi-member body at the district level. The registration, according to the Bill, will be provisiol and permanent.
