Brick kilns, houses evicted

GUWAHATI, Jan 7: An eviction drive has been conducted by the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration today.

Following an order and directive from the Gauhati High Court, Kamrup (M) DC M Amgamuthu sent a team headed by ADC badip Pathak and Chandrapur Revenue Circle Officer Pallav Jyoti th to Chandrapur. The eviction operation was at No. 2 Kharghuli village of Chandrapur Revenue Circle.

Ane Rishi Dev Rai constructed a brick kiln illegally on 26 bighas of government land. One Rajkishore Rai also constructed an illegal brick kiln on 36 bighas of government land.

In today’s eviction operation the brick kiln chimneys, the kilns and labourers’ houses were evicted by the administration.

The eviction was conducted with the help of city police. After the completion of the eviction operation all the evicted materials have been given under the custody of police, VDP and gaon burhas.

In an another eviction operation conducted in the Beltola area under Dispur Revenue Circle some illegally constructed shops, hotels and houses on government land were evicted by the district administration. Dispur Revenue Circle Officer Ranjit Konwar led the eviction operation with the help of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC).

On the premises of the office of the Commissioner of Transport and in and around the tiol Highway a number of houses, shops and hotels were also evicted.
