Bring about awareness on crimes against women: Law students told

GUWAHATI, April 6: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has appealed to the law students of the State to get engaged on their own in bringing about awareness on the rising crimes against women in the State.

The Chief Minister was interacting with the students of DHSK Law College, Dibrugarh, Gauhati University Law College and Dibru College at the central hall of the State Assembly on Friday. It is Sonowal who initiated the programme of students interacting with law makers of the State Assembly.   “Students are an integral part of tion building. The law students have much to do in legal aspects. Following a request from the State Government the Gauhati High Court has decided to set up a fast-track court in each district of the State so as to dispose of cases relating to crimes against women,” he said.   

The Chief Minister himself gave away certificates to the students for their participation in the interaction programme with legislators. At in the interaction session on Friday, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and Water Resource Development Minister Keshab Mahanta and MLAs Prashanta Phukan and Rituparno Baruah, besides officials were present.
