Case registered against VCDC member

GUWAHATI, April 6: An FIR has been lodged against Abu Bakkar Ali, Member of Baghmara village under Mongolian VCDC, Chirang due to illegal involvement in construction of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yoja-Gramin (PMAY-G) house. The beneficiary of PMAY-G from the said village has raised complaint against Ali in the help desk telephone number of the Commissionerate of Panchayat and Rural Development (P & RD) Department that the member has collected all the money of first installment from the beneficiaries of the village and assured them to construct their house as per quality specified. Observing the low quality of the construction, the beneficiaries enquired about the proper procedure from P & RD commissionerate over telephone. And then only the member’s illegal work comes to light. On the basis of this complaint the Commissioner, P & RD instructed the concern Block Development Officer (BDO) to enquire into the matter and lodge FIR against Ali if found guilty. Accordingly, the BDO enquired into it by interacting with the beneficiaries of the said village and found the member guilty of doing illegal job of a contractor for construction of the PMAY- G houses. Hence, an FIR was lodged against the member in Bijni Police station.
