CII holding NETCE in city from December 22

GUWAHATI, Nov 24: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is going to organize the twenty-second edition of North East Tea Conclave & Expo (NETCE–2017) on December 22-23, 2017 at a hotel in Guwahati. The event will focus on and identify the best global models and practices, strengthen market linkages and prepare strategies for a robust tea industry in terms of productivity, marketability and sustaibility. The conclave will also discuss key policy interventions and find ways to improve quality, value addition, price realization and innovations, a press release said.

CII NE Tea Task Force chairman Bidyanda Barkakoty said, “The first edition organized last year was very successful.” He said that realizing that the tea industry of Northeast India cannot survive in isolation, ‘this year we are inviting overseas delegates from neighbouring tea growing countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, etc. Also, delegates from West Bengal, Tamil du and Kerala will take part in the convention, besides delegates from Assam and other states of NE. The programme will include panel discussions, tea tasting sessions, buyer–seller meets and an exhibition”.

Co-chairman Ravi Agarwal of the organizing committee said that “a large number of tea traders, tea producers, small tea growers, tea brokers, all major packeteers and tea fraternity at large are expected to participate at the convention”.
