City traffic plan during Budget Session

GUWAHATI, July 16: With the Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) beginning on Monday next, the Guwahati Traffic Police has drawn a detailed plan to divert vehicular traffic in Guwahati, especially in areas around Dispur.

In order to ensure safety of general public, vulnerable road users like children, students, women, senior citizens, differently-abled persons and two-wheeler riders, vehicle users and others, and to maintain smooth flow of vehicular traffic in and around Dispur Capital Complex the Traffic Police in the city has diverted the traffic routes.

Diversion of vehicular traffic: Movement of all types of vehicular traffic on the Sixty-Feet Road from Supermarket Traffic Point to Dispur Last Gate traffic point shall remain closed from 8.30 am till the session of the day is over.

City buses coming from Basistha Chariali towards Dispur Last Gate shall be diverted towards GS Road from Beltola Chariali and shall run via Jawahar gar Road, Joyagar Chariali and Sixmile service road.

All kinds of light motor vehicles coming from Beltola Chariali side towards Ganeshguri shall run via Dr. B.N. Saikia Road and Dr. R.P. Road (via backside of MLA Hostels).

City bus/public bus stops between Ganeshguri Chariali and Supermarket point on G.S. Road and from Ganeshguri to Hatigaon on Dr. R.P. Road shall be withdrawn temporarily during the Assembly Session.

Vehicles bound for Beltola via Last Gate shall run through G.S. Road, Supermarket, Sixmile point (via flyover service road) and Joyagar road.

City buses coming from Hatigaon and Kahilipara side shall run through Dr. RP Road, Ganeshguri flyover and proceed to their destition.

The city buses and other heavy vehicles bound for Hatigaon and Kahilipara coming from Paltanbazar/Zoo Road side shall run through G.S. Road, Ganeshguri up to PIBCO and diverted through Ma Masa Path, Rukminigaon up to Rukmini gar and Last Gate.

City buses coming from Panjabari side will be diverted at Sixmile flyover and directed to Express Highway, Patharquarry, rengi, Mathgharia, Geeta Mandir and Zoo Road Tiniali.

No parking zone: Both sides of GS Road from the Jata Bhawan to Supermarket, Sixty Feet Road, Dr. R.P. Road and the road behind MLA Hostels shall be ‘NO PARKING ZONE’ during the time of the Assembly session. All vehicles found parked in this area will be towed away without any further intimation.

Restriction on slow-moving vehicles: All slow-moving vehicles shall be restricted at Rukminigaon Tiniali, Dispur Last Gate, Jatia Fagu Rabha Tiniali, Hatigaon Lakhimi Tiniali, yanpur, Hengerabari Public Health, Down Town Road and Super Market respectively.

The restrictions on the slow-moving vehicles will come into force at 7.30 am and continue till the session is over on the day of Assembly session. Restrictions on slow-moving vehicles on GS Road will continue as usual.
